Pacer Topcornerterror and trotter Spartan Victory shared the spotlight at Flamboro Downs on Sunday night with winning performances in the co-featured $11,000 Preferred 2 Handicaps.

Topcornerterror ($5.60) and driver Alfie Carroll won the pacing event as they rallied three-wide turning for home to score in 1:54.3. The nine-year-old Western Terror gelding, who was claimed for $25,000 on Oct. 17 at Woodbine Racetrack by Glenview Livestock Ltd. of Wallenstein, Ont., is now just shy of $300,000 in career earnings.

Spartan Victory ($14.40) was a wire-to-wire winner in the trotting division for driver Ryan Holliday and owner/trainer Bradley Pittock of London, Ont. The eight-year-old gelded son of Hard Rock N Roll went for the lead from post four and and carved out fractions of :28, :58.2 and 1:28 en route to his 1:58.3 triumph. Favourite Lexis D J edged out the pocket-sitting Cimeronken for second-place honours.

Victor Puddy trainee O U Sexy Guy ($10.10) and Carroll came first over from mid-field down the backside and were victorious in the evening's $7,500 Preferred 3 Trot after the leading A Nashty Business self-destructed heading into the homestretch. The 1:59.4 win was his first victory for Ottawa owners Gordon McDonald and Christopher Boland, who claimed the six-year-old Angus Hall gelding for $20,000 at Mohawk Racetrack in mid-September.

Trainer Patrick Shepherd and owner Stephen Morton of Windsor, N.S. teamed up to sweep the early Daily Double with sophomore pacing colt T M Major Storm ($2.80, J Harris) winning his Ontario debut in 1:59.3 and nine-year-old pacer Hellsapoppin ($2.60, J.R.
