Il Sogno Dream was assigned the outside post in Monday’s $34,000 Preferred Handicap Trot at Woodbine Racetrack, and despite being parked every step of the mile he dug in and posted a sharp score in the featured affair.

Trevor Henry stepped forward with Il Sogno Dream when the starting gate sped away, and the pair spent the remainder of the mile on the outside looking in. Burnin Money cut the opening quarter in :26 before being pulled on by the pocket-sitter, Murmur Hanover. That foe rushed to the top and proceeded to whack out middle splits of :55.2 and 1:24.4.

Race favourite Flanagan Memory came first-over on the way to the half, and after gaining the lead in deep stretch he wound up coughing up the lead to the very determined Il Sogno Dream. The eventual winner used a :28.2 closing quarter to win by three-quarters of a length over the late-driving Slip Into Glide. Flanagan Memory had to settle for the show dough.

Victor Puddy trains the four-year-old son of Cantab Hall-Le Reve for the partnership of Bill and Dan Manes along with Len and Randy Christopher. The 17-time winner now owns a 9-1-2 record from 21 trips to the track this season. The lion’s share of the loot lifted his lifetime earnings to $758,109.
