"It's Not The Golden Fleece"

Ontario Progressive Conservative leader Tim Hudak, who visited Rideau Carleton Raceway on Thursday night, once again stated publicly that he does not support the Liberal plan to expand casinos across Ontario.

“When it comes to jobs and the economy, I just reject this notion that the solution to our economic problems is to have 29 new casinos in the province. I come from Niagara so being against casinos is like being against waterfalls and wax museums,” Hudak told The Ottawa Citizen. “But I just don’t think opening 29 new casinos is any kind of economic solution.”

Hudak did suggest he'd be open to cities hosting expanded gaming only after a referendum with a majority of citizens in favour.

“But the bottom line for me, it is not the Golden Fleece municipalities across this province are chasing,” he said.

all the way to rideau, and was there any mention of the s a r program or any idea of what mr hudak is going to do or suggest with regard to the harness racing de-botchery that is taking place as we speak?? speak up tim we are waiting for some words of great wisdom about horsemen not casino sites, and the o.l.g. garbage spewing out of godfrey's mouth!! Or, is it going to be the same old status quo scenario, where as the P.C. party, and liberal party agendas, are not that different after all?? it looks to me, like, the horse people of this province are without a political voice!! save for a-mac in guelph?? come on mr, hudak, or andrea(ndp),
we need either of you to speak soon with some sort of urgency on this industry's behalf!!!

Will Hudak Honor the SARP - Yes or NO, If we are to believe we have friends of horse racing such as Nepean-Carleton MPP Lisa MacLeod who has gone on record stating that her party is committed to keeping the Slots-At-Racetracks program if they win the next election, according to a report in the Ottawa Sun. Now with the new softer approach she states she will fight to make sure the program remains intact but, she refuses to speculate on what her party would do if the horse racing industry is dismantled before an election takes place in order to avoid broken promises. Will any of the political parties admit that the SARP was a good deal for all involved and shy of renegotiating the percentages and making accountability a priorety - PUT THE SLOTS AT RACE TRACKS CONTRACT BACK IN PLACE
stand up make a statement and live up to it quit playing games with our future.

BUT...Who is getting fleeced?

Sandra Pupatelo, who is the front runner to replace McGuinty has said that she will call a by-election to get a seat in the parliament before cancelling the prorogation. This is very important. Why would she hold a by-election just to call another election a few months later? My guess is that she would not call another election, rather she would probably hold by-elections for the seats held by resiging MPP's. She would then stay Premier and not much would change. The OLG could continue their plan, the gas plants would be relocated, the green energy would go ahead as is.

Why would Duncan add horse racing to his portfolio at this time instead of waiting until a spring election? It's all cloudy. Perhaps the Liberals are again one step ahead of the Conservatives and NDP who are both already in campaigning mode.
