Winkys Pride Upsets In Preferred

A tripped-out Winkys Pride got the upper hand on her male rivals in Thursday’s $7,000 Preferred 3 for trotters at Flamboro Downs, and that was music to the ears of the handicappers that backed her at odds of 7-1.

Rob Jenkins got away second with Winkys Pride while race favourite Lexis D J led the field through fractions of :28.3, :59.2 and 1:29.2. Jenkins found clearance for his mare in the lane and she responded by storming home in :29.3 to post the two-length decision over Lexis D J in 1:59.1. Taking home third prize was Excellence.

Rob Hummel of Puslinch, Ontario trains and owns the six-year-old daughter of Amigo Hall-Winkys Smile. The victory was her seventh of the season, and it was the 25th of her career. The mare has banked just shy of $50,000 this year and close to $170,000 to date.
