A set of $2,250 main events went postward as part of Saturday’s 12-race card at the Charlottetown Driving Park, and in both instances the favourites prevailed.

Good Luck Kathy survived a first-over trip en route to capturing the $2,250 Open Mares Handicap for the duo of driver Jason Hughes and trainer Jennifer Trainor.

The seven-year-old daughter of Believeinbruiser-Lucky Kathy kicked home in :29.4 to win by a length over Woodmere Articblue in 1:59.2. Taking home third prize in the seven-mare affair was Prettyndangerous.

Danny Birt of Stratford, PE owns the career winner of $142,193.

Forever Paradise went wire-to-wire in the $2,250 Preferred 2 Pace for driver Marc Campbell and trainer Kevin MacLean.

Campbell hustled the gelding through fractions of :28, :58.1 and 1:27.3 before sprinting home in :29.3 to win by four lengths over The Big Bite in 1:57.1. Rounding out the Trifecta ticket was Perfect Escape.

The seven-year-old son of Western Paradise-Mariart is owned by Reg Mac Pherson, David MacKenzie and Aaron MacKenzie. He’s now 9-for-26 this year and 57-for-166 to date. The veteran has racked up close to $165,000 in lifetime earnings.

Earlier in the day it was Freddie powering to an eye-catching score in the $1,850 Open Trot for trainer/driver Marc Campbell.

Parked and pressing from three-wide in the early going, the five-year-old son of Majestic Son-Circe Hanover slid through panels of :29.3, 1:00.2 and 1:31.1 before using a :30-second closing frame to win by 3-1/4 lengths over Holy Molie Maggie. Taking home the show dough was Wedgewood.

Three Wisemen Stable of Kingston, PE owns the 37-time winner who improved this year’s record to 12-6-2 from 23 starts with the win. He’s banked close to $120,000 to date.
