It has been reported that in Georgia, State Rep. Harry Geisinger has pre-filed legislation in the House which calls for a referendum regarding the introduction of legalized pari-mutuel horse racing.

News of the pre-filings comes courtesy of an article by the Atlanta Journal Constitution. The bills will be considered in the legislature in the 2015-2016 regular session.

The report states that House Resolution 1 calls for a public vote to decide if the state constitution should be amended to allow pari-mutuel wagering on live horse races. The resolution requires a two-thirds vote in the legislature to pass.

The article also states that House Bill 2 deals with state oversight of the pari-mutuel activities.
