B Intensified Takes Pocono Open

B Intensified, driven by George Napolitano, Jr. and trained by Lou Pena, won the $24,000 Open Handicap Pace for fillies and mares Wednesday night at Pocono Downs

Leaving from the two post, Napolitano Jr. put B Intensified on the front end early and took the field through fractions of :55.2 and 1:23.2 before winning with a new lifetime mark of 1:52. Special Sweetheart (Anthony Napolitano) was next under the line, with Indulge Me (Mike Simons) rounding out the top three finishers.

Pocono’s leading trainer, Carmine Fusco, collected one win on the night through 10 races of the 12-race card while Ron Burke, runner-up, also had a victory, leaving him two behind Fusco with only two more nights remaining on the 136-day meet.

Napolitano, who is way out in front with 331 wins on the season at Pocono Downs, is making it a race for top percentage driver with Jim Morrill, Jr., who led with a .381 UDR to the former’s .376 coming into the Wednesday night card.
