Lexington Yearling Sale Concludes

The 2015 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale wrapped up on Friday night at the Fasig-Tipton Pavilion in Lexington, Kentucky with its fifth and final session.

Father Dave, Hip 624, garnered the highest bid of the Friday sale. The Always A Virgin-My Best Girl colt was purchased for $75,000 by Joe Holloway of Freehold, New Jersey from the Preferred Equine consignment. Father Dave is a half-brother to Kentucky Sires Stakes champion Ohmybelle ($255,051 - 1:53.1) and two-time Ontario Sires Stakes Gold winner Bob Ben And John ($187,886 - 1:53).

Ninety-one yearlings were sold during the fifth session for $1,458,000. The average price was $16,022, up from last year's final day average of $13,926.

A total of 642 yearlings were sold during the entire five-day sale for $29,031,000, producing an average of $45,220 that marked a slight increase from last year. The 2015 sale featured 647 yearlings selling for $28,520,000 and averaging $44,080.

The overall sale toppers were Federal Hill and Live For Greatness, each selling for $350,000 during the opening session on Monday night.

Federal Hill, who sold as Hip 21, was acquired by Atlantic Trot acting as agent for Reima Kuisla of Pompano Beach, Florida. The Muscle Hill-Gala Dream colt is a half-brother to the sensational performers Father Patrick (1:50.2 - $2,600,571) and Pastor Stephen (1:52.4 - $1,058,188).

Live For Greatness, a son of Cantab Hall-Forever Graceful, was purchased by agent Robert Lindstrom of Boden, Sweden. The colt, who sold as Hip 31, is the first foal out of a full-sister to Muscle Massive (1:51 - $1,219,770).
