Pair Of Preferred Trots At Flamboro

Thursday's Preferred trot winners at Flamboro Downs took totally different paths to eventually make their way back to the winner's circle.

In the $11,000 Preferred 2 Trot, Spartan Victory (Ryan Holliday) paraded the field through fractions of :28.1, :57.3 and 1:28.2, all the while pestered by Lakefield (Luc Ouellette) to his outside. Putting away that foe, Holliday urged on his gelding but was caught in the final strides by Tornado Tim and driver Garrett Whelan. After moving three-wide around Lakefield at the three-quarter pole, Whelan had Tornado Tim within striking distance at the head of the lane and hit the wire a quarter-length ahead of Spartan Victory in 1:58.3.

Despite winning this class twice in October, the Everette Hanson-owned and Dan O'Brian-trained seven-year-old Revenue gelding was dismissed at odds of 15-1 but notched his ninth win of the season and 27th lifetime.

Enough About You returned to Flamboro for the $7,000 Preferred 3 Trot, and Travis Henry did the same thing he did the previous time he drove the gelding. Henry hustled the four-year-old Mutineer gelding out for the lead and never looked back, scoring a gate-to-wire victory in 1:57.4. Enough About You was a comfortable two-length winner over Heres The Magic (Alfie Carroll) and Osprey Vision (Dave Boughton).

Carmen Auciello trains Enough About You (Mutineer - Arenal) for owner Wheelhouse Racing of Mississauga, Ont.
