‘Bryson’ Completes Campbell's Big Day

A wire-to-wire victory in the $1,000 Bobby Leyte Memorial Pace with Bryson Seelster capped off a fabulous afternoon at Northside Downs for 25-year-old reinsman Ryan Campbell

The popular Bryson Seelster ($4.90) left from Post 4 in the feature event and carved out fractions of :29.2, 1:01 and 1:30.1 en route to a 1:58.3 triumph by over three lengths. Aahm Cruisin (Gary Delaney) followed from the pocket to place while Colum Magic (Kevin Bailey) came in third.

Bryson Seelster earned his second straight win and 10th of the season in 28 outings. The four-year-old gelded son of Camluck-Bolero Bogota is trained and owned by Ray MacKinnon of Inverness, N.S.

The victory was Campbell’s fifth on the 16-race program. The New Waterford, N.S. resident gave 17-year-old trainer Warren MacKinnon a double winning the 10th race with River Motion ($4.30) and the sixth race with Giselles Big B ($3.50). He also picked up two more victories aboard his own pupil Rocket Player ($4.20) in the eighth race and the Blair MacKenzie-trained Pictonian Pasha ($4.20) in the fifth race. With his five wins, Campbell took over the lead in the track's drivers standings.

Campbell is currently in the midst of a career best year having recorded 81 wins already while banking $54,495 in purses. Lifetime, he was won 224 races and nearly $170,000.
