The final regularly scheduled Thursday evening program of the season has Likely To Win picked to do just that in the feature event at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

First race post time is 7 p.m. for the 12-dash Thursday night card.

Likely To Win has the rail in the race 11, $1,900 feature with Walter Cheverie at the controls for trainer Adam Merner and owners Blenise Young and Lester Campbell of Nova Scotia and Jeffrey Campbell of Alberta. The five-year-old son of Western Terror was second his last start in this same class to Cabo Pan Lucas, who is absent from Thursday’s event. Those factors earned the respect of race analyst Les MacIsaac.

“His last partnership with Walter resulted in a win and they’re back together for this one,” MacIsaac said. “With him likely being able to cut it or sit and stalk all the way, he’ll be hard to deny.”

MacIsaac selects post two starter Van Zant and driver Ron Matheson for second while My Lucky Killean with driver Ken Murphy gets third call from post three. Other entries include Tempo Seelster (Vincent Poulton), Mcjestic (Jason Hughes), Cheyenne Ford (Kenny Arsenault), Oakrock Almighty (Gordie Hennessey) and Rash B Havior (Marc Campbell).

The evening trot class has Howmacs Pride favoured from post two for trainer/driver Arsenault and owners Wade Peconi of Stanchel and Howmac Farms Ltd of North Wiltshire, P.E.I. The Amigo Hall mare drops out of Open company into this $1,750 event with Parkhill Jugernaut (Ambyr Campbell) and Dunmore Chance (Jack Panting) selected for second and third.

The back-up pace lines up in race nine for a $1,700 purse with Smiley Bayama the classifier’s choice from post four for trainer/driver Ron Gass and owners Shelley and Alexis Gass, all of Cornwall, P.E.I. The Aces Up seven-year-old will face a field of seven other pacers including Sinners In Heaven (Gary Chappell) and Narragansett (Hughes).
