Favourite Paparazzi Hanover and trainer/driver Travis Cullen wore down pacesetter Thorn In Your Side to win the featured $11,000 Preferred 2 Pace on Sunday night (October 23) at Flamboro Downs.
While Thorn In Your Side and Travis Henry led the field of six through fractions of :27.1, :55.4 and 1:24.2, Paparazzi Hanover followed in third-place. Cullen then sent the 2-5 favourite on the attack as they passed the third quarter mark and they prevailed by a neck in 1:53.1. Mckinney and Billy Davis Jr. finished over three lengths behind in third off a pocket trip.
The win was the second in a row for Paparazzi Hanover, following up a 13-1/2 length score in 1:52.1 last Sunday at Flamboro. He paid $2.80 to win.
Cullen shares ownership of the four-year-old Well Said-Paulas Best gelding with Rachel Andrew of Rockton, Ont., and Keith Hannah of Waskada, Man.
