Doug McNair may need to brush up on his French as he will be representing Canada in the 2013 International Weekend of the French Trotter.

The multi-day event, which will take place at the Hippodrome Paris-Vincennes, will kick off November 29 and conclude on December 1.

"I definitely wasn't expecting that," said McNair. "It's exciting and it's going to be a lot of fun. I've never been to that part of the world."

McNair, 23 of Guelph, Ontario, will be the fourth driver to represent Canada in this international event. Last year, Billy Davis Jr won the Prix des Rencontres Internationales du Trotteur Français at Hippodrome de Paris-Vincennes on December 1. Scott Zeron donned the white and red for Canada in 2010, while Randy Waples made the trek across the pond in 2011.

McNair is enjoying another stellar season with 246 wins and $5.2 million in purse earnings to date. Since getting the invite, he's started to get some background from fellow drivers that have competed overseas.

Items on the itinerary will include the 2013 Trotteur Français International Awards Dinner on Friday, November 29; a clash against fellow international reinsmen in the 'Prix des Rencontres Internationales du Trotteur Français on Saturday, November 30, and a visit of the Training Centre in Growbois, lunch at the Vincennes racecourse and final race of the 'GNT' (Grand National du Trot) on Sunday, December 1.

If everything works out, Doug will head to France with his mother, Terri.
