Dreamfair Eternal and Armbro Chronicle went back-to-back in their respective Open classes Friday night at Woodbine Racetrack

.

After capturing the $44,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace last Friday, Dreamfair Eternal returned to the Rexdale oval for another triumph tonight.

Crystal Chris (Mario Baillargeon) and Miss Scarlett (Rick Zeron) left together from Post 5 and 6 while Randy Waples dropped favourite Dreamfair Eternal back in fourth position from an inside start. Miss Scarlett fired around the first turn to establish the early lead and in doing so she plunked down a :26-second opener. From that point, Crystal Chris pulled the pocket and reached up to earn the leading role. As she passed the half in :55.3, Dreamfair Eternal began her bid from fourth and inched closer and closer to the front through three-quarters in 1:25.4. Using a :27.1 final quarter, Dreamfair Eternal swept past Crystal Chris in mid-stretch and glided under the wire in 1:53.1 over a sloppy track rated three seconds off.

To Helen Back closed well from second over to finish three-quarters of a length behind forcing Crystal Chris to settle for the show dough.

The homebred daughter of Camluck-J Cs Nathalie is trained by Pat Fletcher and owned by John and Mary Lamers of Ingersoll, Ont. Dreamfair Eternal has won half of her 26 starts this season earning $523,420 in purses. The five-year-old bay now boasts 25 wins on her career record with $667,415 in earnings.

Fresh off a win in last Thursday’s $50,000 Open Trot, Armbro Chronicle also put forth a repeat performance in this week’s Friday edition.

Valvec (Phil Hudon) left out from the inside position but Ziegler Hanover (Mario Baillargeon) pulled ahead from the four post heading around the first turn. As the field approached the first quarter in :27.2, Post 7 starter Armbro Chronicle and driver Steve Condren were already on the move, and within a blink of an eye the team had established a four length lead on the field. The seven-year-old son of Self Possessed-Pat Honey carved out a :58.1 half and 1:28.1 third quarter before kicking away to a seven length advantage. The time of the mile was 1:56.1.

Merited Victory (Rick Zeron) and Andovers Son (Randy Waples) finished second and third.

Armbro Chronicle notched his eighth win in 22 starts this year bumping his earnings over the $300,000 mark. The bay gelding’s 36th lifetime score increased his bankroll to $1.27 million. Kent Baker trains and owns the millionaire with Cal Patterson of Wasaga Beach, Jo Anne Smith and Randy Fielder of Coldwater, Ont.
