A pair of the most promising three-year-old trotters to hit the track this meet at The Isle Pompano Park squared off on Wednesday evening and in the end it was the filly BKs Luv that scored a narrow decision over gelding rival Nobell Prize

.

The pair were patiently driven with Bruce Ranger piloting Nobell Prize and Tom Sells in the bike behind BKs Luv. Going into the final turn when his cover stalled, Ranger took the second over Nobell Prize back to the inside and then back out at the top of the stretch to confront the fraction setter Fox Valley London. Tightly tracking every move by Nobell Prize was BKs Luv, who was angled out four-wide turning for home.

By mid-stretch in the $6,000 purse test against older rivals the pair of promising three-year-olds were locked in a late stretch duel alone. BKs Luv was up in time to score by just over head in a life’s mark of 1:56.3 for owner Fred Morosini of Deerfield Beach, Florida. The narrow defeat halted the win streak at two for Nobell Prize, who had raced flawlessly at Pompano since arriving from Ontario as a private purchase by trainer Miriam Toland. Mike Deters, the trainer of BKs Luv would return the very next race for another win photo with Silvio Dante who toppled a claiming pace field.

Not My Friend racked up a second straight win in the Orchid-Pelican Series for Florida bred two-year-old trotters. Owner, trainer and driver Robert Williams, Jr. pulled the pocket with the Famously-Shes A Loan filly early in the third quarter and trotted away in the fastest of three $4,500 divisions in 2:02.1.

Jeanie Marie won her division in round two action of the Series in a life’s mark of 2:03. She was following in the pocket when a six-time winner in 2009, Pocohontas Fame, made a completely unexpected break nearing the half. Jeanie Marie is by Famously from the Lindy Lane mare Vite Vite Kosmos, and she’s trained and reined by Warren Harp for Joy Lancaster and Joan Harp.

In the only colt and gelding division of round two of the Orchid-Pelican Series, Be Famous was an impressive two move winner. The two-year-old colt by Famously-Celebrity Descent surrendered his early lead to Promising Venture with Wally Hennessey. The race was turned into a stretch sprint after a three-quarter clocking of 1:33.3. Be Famous was delivered with perfect timing by Bruce Ranger in 2:03. Mel Turcotte trains Be Famous, a winner of five of seven starts in his rookie year, for Amante Standardbreds of Delray Beach, Florida.
