The largest business fraud case in Hamilton history concluded today with Robert K. Waxman sentenced to serve eight years in prison.

Formerly one of harness racing's most prominent owners, Waxman was also fined $15.5 million US by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. As noted in the 30-page ruling, the court also ordered Waxman to pay just under $18 million in restitution to Philip Services.

Brian Greenspan, lawyer for the defense told the Hamilton Spectator the sentence would be appealed.
