Warkentin To Call “Wives” Rematch

Meadowlands track announcer Ken Warkentin will be thrown into Monmouth Park’s marital spat as he is scheduled to call the rematch of equine celebrities Mywifenosevrything and Thewifedoesntknow on Sunday at Monmouth Park in Oceanport, N.J.

The two fillies, along with Monmouth Park track announcer Larry Collmus, created an international sensation after a very memorable stretch duel in the seventh race on August 22.

“Mywifenosevrything. Thewifedoesntknow. They’re one-two. Of course they are!” said Collmus.

The video of the race and Collmus’s call instantly became a viral sensation on YouTube and has generated more than 1,000,000 hits to date.

Following that race, Collmus did a live interview with a radio station in Auckland, New Zealand, and appeared on the CBS-TV Early Show and the nationally syndicated Inside Edition. The race replay was featured prominently on ESPN’s SportsCenter, and was also aired on the Today Show (NBC), Good Morning America (ABC), World News with Diane Sawyer (ABC) and on CNN broadcasts.

Warkentin is scheduled to call the weekend’s races for Collmus, who will be at Oak Tree at Hollywood Park calling Saturday’s action for a live telecast on ESPN Classic.

In their initial meeting, the Jane Cibelli-trained Mywifenosevrything, ridden by Elvis Trujillo, scored by two lengths over Thewifedoesntknow, trained by Ed Broome and ridden by Carlos Marquez Jr. The “Wife” exacta that day returned a generous $29.40.

On Sunday, Thewifedoesntknow and Mywifenosevrything will enter the starting gate next to each other in posts 1 and 2, respectively. The rematch was delayed when both horses scratched out of a September 12 turf race that was rained off the grass.

Post time for the “Wife” race, Race 9, is slated for 4:30 p.m. (ET). It will air live on Television Games Network (TVG) and via live streaming at monmouthpark.com.
