Hot Red Shores Duo To Face Off

A pair of hot horses will face off in the Thursday night (October 20) feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

First race post time is 6:30 p.m., with the $2,100 feature set for race 11.

Perfect Escape was exceptional last week in this class, winning in 1:54.4 for driver Ron Matheson, and draws post six this Thursday with the same driver for Charlottetown’s leading trainer, Jackie Matheson, along with owners Jack Keenan of Stratford, P.E.I. and Joseph Dahl of Burlington, Ont.

While Perfect Escape was victorious in the Thursday evening feature last week, Doing Some Damage captured an identical class on Saturday night in Charlottetown with a 1:55.4 victory for trainer Trevor Hicken and owner Kent Livingston of Cornwall, P.E.I. Corey MacPherson will be back in the driver’s seat as the pacer looks for three wins in a row.

Eagle Jolt always is a factor and draws post seven again for trainer/driver Marc Campbell, while Mcjestic will try to play spoiler off the rail for driver Gary Chappell. Other entries include Fightmaster (Mike McGuigan), Likely To Win (Adam Merner), Narragansett (Jason Hughes) and Allstar Seelster (Kenny Arsenault).

Maritime Breeders champion Glory Jean will take a rare step into overnight company in race 10 with no stakes to compete in until the Oct. 29 Island Breeders Finals. Regular pilot Mark Bradley will put his feet in the stirrups for trainer Tom Weatherbie and owner Blair Hansen of Charlottetown. The race features a hardened group of aged pacing mares including Nashurallability (Don MacNeill) and Yankee No More (Hughes). Fellow three-year-old pacing filly Atlantic Breeder’s Crown starter Scarlet Safari will join Glory Jean in the jump in company.

A tight-knit group of six Open trotters will battle in race six with Freddie back in the box trying to start a fresh win streak for trainer/driver Campbell and owner Three Wisemen Stable of Cornwall, P.E.I. Freddie was a winner in his latest outing, but that race had Osprey Impact (MacPherson) absent, after she handed Freddie his first loss in weeks the start previous. Other entries include Thunderaway (Hughes), Tyne Valley (Bradley), Wedgewood (Chappell) and Frill Seeker (Arsenault).
