JB Stena Passes

It has been announced that Quebec sire JB Stena, an 18-year-old son bay of Abercrombie, has been

euthanized.

The announcement, which was posted on lesecuriesdiabolo.com, states that the horse was humanely euthanized Thursday, October 8. Cancer of the horse's small intestine was cited as the culprit.

JB Stena had been enjoying retirement in the pastures at Diabolo Stables.

In a career which came to an end on August 16 of 1997 at the age of six, JB Stena, out of the Nihilator mare Freedom Aloft, put in 113 pari-mutuel starts and compiled a record of 21 wins, 20 second-place finishes and 16 third-place efforts. The horse banked $372,212 in overall purse earnings and lowered his mark to 1.51.1 over the Meadowlands Racetrack at the age of four.

JB Stena's progeny earned over $6 million in purse earnings. Seven of his offspring paced in 1:53 or better.
