Hollywood Park To Close?

The California Horse Racing Board and Thoroughbred Owners of California continue to have top-level discussions with Fairplex Park in Pomona and Los Alamitos Race Course for the expansion of one of those facilities in the event that Hollywood Park ceases to be a racing and training facility for thoroughbreds.

Regardless of which facility eventually becomes an alternative to Hollywood Park for racing and training, necessary improvements will include enlarging the main track, adding additional stalls, and expansion of the facility to some degree.

If and when Hollywood Park ceases racing operations, the CHRB will work with the industry on a reworking of the traditional racing calendar.

“We commend all of those involved for working together so cooperatively, focusing on what’s best in the long term for the sport,” said CHRB Chairman Keith Brackpool. “We anticipate conducting a public informational hearing in the near future.”
