A con man that is currently incarcerated for an unrelated crime has pled guilty to felony larceny charges in relation to a Standardbred racehorse purchase scheme.

According to an article by the Times Union, Anthony Aubin, 28, is now facing an additional two and a half to five-year sentence for felony larceny.

Aubin, of Clifton Park, NY, has admitted and pled guilty to duping an individual out of $10,000. The buyer in question thought that he/she was purchasing the rights to a pair of Standardbred racehorses at Saratoga Raceway in the summer of 2017. Authorities have stated that one of the horses was retired, while the other was owned by someone else.

The article states that Aubin’s current incarceration – a two to four-year term – is in regard to a criminal possession charge. Aubin, who has been convicted on fraud charges in the past, also faced felony charges in 2016 in regard to a situation which ultimately saw a Schenectady police officer resign over a fraud case.
