It has been reported that Ohio Representative Lou Blessing has sponsored legislation which could see Lebanon Raceway relocated to state-prison farmland in Warren County

.

An article on cincinnati.com explains that the proposed location for the new raceway would be near Interstate 75 and the I-75/Ohio 63 interchange in Monroe, site of the Cincinnati Premium Outlets shopping mall.

“We want that to just be a major retail (and) tourism destination,” Warren County Commissioner Dave Young was quoted as saying in the report. “People are coming to Warren County there at that exit to shop, and there’s also a lot of commerce that’s going on there.”

The article also touches on the idea of a temporary slots area being erected at the fairgrounds where Lebanon Raceway stands.

"If they’re going to operate a temporary casino somewhere, they might as well do it right there where the harness racing is going on anyway,” Warren County Commissioner Pat South was quoted a saying.
