Corey MacPherson kicked off the 2016 harness racing season at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park driving four winners, including Preferred champion Idealic Life, on Sunday, Jan. 3.

One of his victories came in the afternoon's featured $2,300 Preferred 2 Pace aboard Idealic Life in 1:56.3. The win was the 12-year-old pacer’s fourth in a row as he turned back stablemate Painted Desert (Mark Bradley) giving trainer Trevor Hicken the one-two finish in the top class. Smiley Bayama (Ron Gass) was third. Idealic Life is owned by Perry, Luke and Robin Burke and Kent Livingston.

MacPherson's grand slam also included Thisgirlcanhunt for her second in a row from the Mike Ramsey stable, Mares Open winner Best Risque for trainer Brian Ladner, and Capitalism giving Hicken the training double.

In other news, Holy Molie Maggie won the Open Handicap Trot in an impressive 2:00 flat for driver Gary Chappell and owner/trainer Jeff Holmes.

Marc Campbell posted a driving triple on the 15-dash program while Chappell and Wade Sorrie enjoyed driving doubles to kick off the new season.

The wager was $47,481.
