The photo finish camera was put to use to decide the winner in Thursday’s $7,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred 3 at Flamboro Downs, and when the ORC Judges had a gander at the picture it was Windsong Glamorous who prevailed by a nose.
Windsong Glamorous was treated to a ground-saving journey by driver Travis Henry throughout the majority of the mile after supplying the field with an opening quarter clocked in :30. Ostinato and Rain Cloud Hanover took turns on the lead through middle splits of 1:00.1 and 1:29.3 before Windsong Glamorous sprinted home in :30.1 to win by the narrowest of margins over Rain Cloud Hanover. Third prize was earned by Winbak Your Kash.
Sent off as the 3-2 favourite in the eight-horse affair, Windsong Glamorous posted her second win of the season – and the 30th of her career – while pushing her lifetime earnings to $183,946. The eight-year-old daughter of Astreos-Briar Hill is owned and trained by Vern Cochrane of Dundas, Ontario.
