According to a report, the chances of video lottery terminals coming to Ohio racetracks may have just gotten

a bit better.

An article today by The Plain Dealer states that a petition circulated by letohiovote.org -- which is directly challenging governor Ted Strickland's plan to place up to 17,500 video slot machines at Ohio horse race tracks without a vote of the people -- has fallen short of the required 241,366 valid signatures.

The group now has 10 days to gather the needed 27,065 valid signatures to force the slots issue be put on the November ballot for a statewide vote.
