G Ts Jamie Wins Mares Open At Fraser

G Ts Jamie ($5.60) continued her consistent run of top finishes since joining the Jim Marino stable last fall with a victory in Sunday afternoon's $12,000 Open Pace for fillies and mares at Fraser Downs.

Tahiti Seelster fired to command during a quick :26.4 opening quarter and carved out middle splits of :56.2 and 1:25.2 with G Ts Jamie and James Burke following loosely in the pocket spot until the stretch. That's when Tahiti Seelster was swarmed with G Ts Jamie shooting through the passing lane while Thats It launched outside off a three-hole trip and 8-5 favourite American Passion closed farthest out. In the end, G Ts Jamie notched her first win of the year in 1:55.4 over a sloppy track, finishing a half-length in front of Tahiti Seelster. Thats It finished third ahead of American Passion.

Owned by Marino in partnership with the J J J Stables, G Ts Jamie has hit the board in her last 12 races. Lifetime, the seven-year-old Brandons Cowboy mare has won 16 times while earning $133,160 in purses.

Burke also drove the Fraser Downs Horse Racing Club's Jans Legacy ($3.20) to her second straight victory to open the 11-race card. The 3-5 favourite angled out from third down the stretch to score in 2:01.3, overtaking Pureform Bella and Attila The Hen.
