Timberline Court Goes From Last To First

Timberline Court circled a field of six Open pacers and drew off to win the $9,000 feature race by more than three lengths on Saturday at Northlands Park for trainer/driver Gerry Hudon.

The nine-year-old son of With Held trailed the field through a contested :27-second opening quarter before beginning to roll. He picked up cover approaching the :55.3 half-mile mark and followed last week's winner Smooth Criminal (Bill Tainsh Jr.), who took over the lead at the 1:24.3 third quarter station. But Timberline Court put away Smooth Criminal into the stretch and surged home for the 1:53.4 triumph.

Sent postward as the 6-1 third choice, Timberline Court paid $14.40 to win. GTs Jake (Brandon Campbell) and Flak Jacket (Jamie Gray) came on for second and third-place honours.

Timberline Court has two wins, one second and one third in four starts so far this year. The homebred gelding has earned 38 wins lifetime and purses just shy of $385,000 for Hudon and co-owner R. Lynn Kowalevsky of Airdrie, Alta.
