Thirteen Horses Saved From House

It goes without saying that we love our horses – possibly enough to even consider letting one into a house for a brief period of time. Although thoughts such as those are usually dashed instantly, one homeowner has allowed it to happen, 13-fold, and the authorities are now involved.

According to an article by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, more than 500 animals were rescued from a home in Nevada on Sunday (January 21).

The straw that broke the proverbial camel’s back in the ordeal came in the form of a horse. The equine had somehow escaped the house and started to roam the neighbourhood unattended.

Police were notified of the ‘hero’ horse at roughly 8:20 a.m. The equine was loaded onto a trailer by Clark County Animal Control. As the report explains, the homeowner in question then contacted animal control and the true extent of the situation was unveiled.

In total, 569 animals were removed from the premises. The laundry list includes some 400 pigeons, 150 hens and roosters, 13 horses, four turtles and a pair of guinea pigs.

Charges against the homeowner are pending.
