Lazurus won in his Dover Downs debut, while pacer Pass Line Bluechip won his fourth straight in the Tuesday, Jan. 23 co-features over an off track.
After two straight starts from the outside, Lazurus drew an inside post in the $13,000 Winners-Over Trot. With Tim Tetrick at the controls, the Credit Winner-Afterglow Hall gelding scored a 1:55.1 victory by a head. Scott DiDomenco trains the eight-year-old for Dr. Patrick Graham. The win was the 16th in Lazurus’ career. Tough Mack, the race favourite, finished second, and Moose Madness led early and held third.
Legacy Racing’s Pass Line Bluechip continues to climb the class ladder, notching his fourth-consecutive win with a 1:54 mile in a $13,000 Filly and Mares Pace. Allan Davis was behind the Bettor’s Delight-Run On Luck three-year-old filly for trainer Wayne Givens. Moments Of Joy nipped Snappy Dresser for second.
Divas Image returns to the $25,000 Mares Open Handicap Wednesday, Jan. 24, going for her fourth-straight win.
Absent from the feature last week, Sweet Robbie scored a 1:52 victory, and will compete against Divas Image from post six for owner Gary Ewing and with Art Stafford Jr. in the bike. Tony Morgan will drive Divas Image, who is owned by Our Horse Cents Stable, Stable 45, and Jerry & Theresa Silva Stables.
Also competing in the Mares Open are Valuable Art, to be driven by Corey Callahan, Legacy Racing's Empress Deo, handled by Montrell Teague, JFE Enterprise's Scandalicious with Tim Tetrick, Newborn Sassy with Russell Foster, and Westluckycam with Jonathan Roberts.
Trainer Jim King debuts another New Zealand shipper with Rich Polucci and JoAnn Looney-King’s Shartin N in the $17,000 Mares Winners Pace, while Stormtracker seeks a third-straight win in the $15,000 Mares Pace on the undercard.
