It was announced last week there was a political push to put together a Casino Gaming Study Commission to examine the possibility of casino expansion at the Meadowlands

. New Jersey State Senate President Stephen Sweeney has gone on the record as saying that movement is "going nowhere."

Pressofatlanticcity.com has quoted Sweeney as saying that an agreement has been reached which will give Atlantic City five years to thrive under the new gaming provisions.

“If it doesn’t work in five years, if everything we’ve done to help Atlantic City get back on its feet doesn’t work, then we have to start looking at it again,” Sweeney was quoted as saying. “But we’re going to give Atlantic City every chance to be successful.”
