Just a few hours after Feelin Flush was named a two-time Alberta Standardbred Horse Association (ASHA) award nominee, the As Promised mare returned to the track to capture the featured $9,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace on Friday night at Northlands Park.

Feelin Flush circled the Open field, which was scratched down to five starters, and sprinted a final quarter in :28-seconds over the 'good' track to win in 1:58 by three and a half lengths as the 7-1 longshot. Doober Hoozzitz, Gts Jerilyn, Blue Star Beauty and the winner's popular stablemate, Phoenician Gal, rounded out the finish order.

Feelin Flush earned 12 wins, 10 seconds and four thirds in 35 starts last year as a five-year-old along with earnings totalling $67,394. She has been nominated against Blue Star Beauty and Credit Card Junkie in the Champion Aged Mare category. She is also a finalist for the Claiming Mare of the Year award along with Just Saucy and Fancy Camelot.

Meanwhile, Feelin Flush's trainer, driver and co-owner, Travis Cullen, is a finalist in three ASHA categories as well as the new O'Brien Award Future Star category. Award winners will be announced in February.

Friday's 11-race card got off to a rough start with an accident occurring the in opener. The trailing Concorde, driven by Debbie McLeod, fell after the half-mile mark. McLeod was not seriously injured and completed her driving assignments. According to Northlands Park officials, Concorde was transported off the track as a precaution to be evaluated, but was able to load the trailer under his own power.
