On Tuesday, January 17, Governor Chris Christie signed legislation which will pave the way for legalized sports wagering in New Jersey. In order to make expanded gaming a reality in NJ, the state will have to challenge the federal ban which only allows sports gambling in Nevada, Delaware, Oregon and Montana

January 11, 2012:

According to a report, Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear has been in discussions for weeks regarding a constitutional amendment which would pave the way for expanded gaming in the state. It is expected that he will be announcing his plans in the coming days

January 10, 2012:

According to reports, bills in New Jersey dealing with expanded gaming, simulcasting, and the licensing of off-track wagering locations passed both the Assembly and the state Senate on Monday, January 9. The bills now move on to the office of Governor Chris Christie

January 6, 2012:

On Thursday, January 5, a New Jersey Assembly Regulatory Oversight and Gaming Committee approved a pair of bills in regard to simulcasting. The bills will now be subject of a floor vote Monday, January 9

January 5, 2012:

Equibase has released the U.S. thoroughbred wagering numbers from December 2011. Those numbers have revealed that wagering for the month was up from the same time in 2010. The positive wagering number marks the first year-over-year increase since November of 2009
