Jeffery P retook the lead at the quarter and brooked no serious challenges thereafter, triumphing for the second straight week in the $29,041 Open Handicap Trot at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows on Friday, May 3.

Once back on the top, Jeffery P never drew away from the field, but the nine-year-old Full Count-Betty Jean gelding made it clear he was the boss, scoring in 1:53.2 for Ronnie Wrenn Jr. Early leader Mon Amour was second, beaten 1-1/4 lengths, while Double Account was a ground-saving third.

Ron Burke trains Jeffery P, who now boasts $535,100 in career earnings, for Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and Phillip Collura.

Wrenn, Aaron Merriman and trainer Brandon Presto each enjoyed a triple.

On Saturday, The Meadows will offer its annual Kentucky Derby Day celebration featuring top-shelf live harness racing followed by the Kentucky Derby simulcast — with plenty of fun festivities through the day. The live card is headlined by a pair of stakes for three-year-old colt and gelding pacers — a $159,771 USD Pennsylvania Sires Stakes and a $60,000 USD PA Stallion Series event. Other activities include a Derby hat contest with prizes up to $1,000 USD, a balloon artist, giveaways, food and drink specials, live music all day, paddock tours and starting gate rides.

On the wagering front, the 14-race live card offers a $725.90 carryover in the Pick 5 (race 10). Special post time on Saturday is 11:30 a.m.
